OVER 30 YEARS OF TRAINING EXPERIENCE

The NIFPO Training Company is Northern Ireland’s leading provider of fishing and maritime training. A not-for-profit organisation based in Portavogie, County Down, one of Northern Ireland’s key fishing ports, we have delivered quality training and advice to fishermen, onshore workers and maritime users since 1986, when we were originally established as the Sea Fish Industry Training Association (SFITA).

In 2020, we merged with the Northern Ireland Fish Producers’ Organisation (NIFPO), Northern Ireland’s largest fishermen’s organisation, and rebranded as the NIFPO Training Company.

While headquartered in Portavogie, we deliver high-quality maritime training across the Northern Ireland coast and accommodate requests outside our scheduled courses wherever possible. Our courses are approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), the Seafish Industry Authority and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). We are one of a small number of Seafish Approved Training Providers (ATP) in the UK and the only Seafish ATP in Northern Ireland.

We have also built a state-of-the-art fire training rig, enabling us to deliver STCW fire-fighting courses using Breathing Apparatus (BA) equipment.
Our courses are open to anyone requiring maritime training. Please contact us to find out more.
